Taster Session Schedule

Brief Introduction of the MA ELT and the Multimedia Module:

The MA in English Language Teaching is designed for both those already in teaching positions, and those thinking of becoming language teachers. The programme provides a comprehensive introduction to the field, and a thorough grounding in the theory and practice of teaching English as a foreign, second or additional language. Our Multimedia Materials Development module aims to develop approaches to teaching online and practical skills in creating digital materials. Join our session to find out more!

Taster module: ‘Using Video in English Language Teaching’ - In this session, we will demonstrate how video can be used as an engaging and effective way to teach English. We will first explain the distinction between video as a mode of listening practice versus video as a visual stimulus for language learning and production. We will then give participants an opportunity to do some online tasks based on the video, followed by a short demonstration of how to create interactive tasks.

Q & A with alumni: Graduates of this programme can travel the world teaching English, and move into teaching English for academic, professional and occupational purposes. A unique feature of this programme is that students can opt for either a standard research dissertation or a practice-based dissertation, in which they take the internationally recognised Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA).

Advice and Questions: We will take questions and tell you more about our requirements for entry.
