Employing a Tier 2 / Skilled Worker visa holder not sponsored by Queen Mary

Generally, Skilled Worker and Tier 2 visa holders are only able to work for their sponsor. However, on some occasions they may be able to undertake additional work for another employer.  Any qualifying work is limited to 20 hours per week.

Queen Mary may only employ a Skilled Worker or Tier 2 visa holder, for a maximum of 20 hours per week, where the following criteria is met:

  • The individual still works in the job that they are employed to do;
  • the work is in the same occupational code and at the same level as their main job or in a shortage occupation;

To determine if an individual is eligible to work for Queen Mary we require the following documents in addition to a copy of their BRP

All supplementary work must be assessed before the individual can commence employment. If the work is unsuitable Queen Mary cannot offer employment to the individual and they cannot undertake it on a "voluntary" basis.
