Throughout our history we’ve put social justice and improving lives at the centre of our mission. We embrace being part of one of the world’s great cultural and economic centres, but we’ll never forget our East End roots. World-class education with no limits. That's Queen Mary.
With students from over 160 nationalities, Queen Mary is one of the most diverse institutions in the world, located in one of the most diverse cities in the world. By the time you leave, you will have friends and contacts all over the globe. Many of our undergraduate degrees allow you to extend the study of your chosen subject with an additional year abroad. Queen Mary also has sites in China, Malta and Paris.
I wanted to come to Queen Mary mainly because it was a Russell Group uni in London, but with a campus. You’re in the middle of the city but you still get that campus feeling— Maddy Stichbury, International Relations BA (Current 3rd year student)
Our staff and students work together to create an outstanding, all-inclusive, world-class university, enhanced by the richness of our diverse student population. We focus our efforts on four key areas: excellence in education, excellence in student engagement, excellence in employability and excellence in the learning environment.
Our students have gone on to make a difference in recognised organisations around the world.
Graduates from Russell Group universities earn 10% more than graduates from other universities over a lifetime
As a Queen Mary student, you’ll be well placed to make the transition into your chosen career or further study. From your first day here, we’ll work with you to give you the guidance, tools and opportunities you need to boost your skills and gain confidence. We’ll tailor your development around your schedule and the things you want to do - whether that’s an industry placement, a part time job on or near campus, or improving your CV. You’ll leave us ready to face the future on your terms. At Queen Mary, you’ll:
• Get the experience you need with work placement schemes, industry placements and paid internships.
• Access the advice you need. That could be a career choice or interview workshop, or through being
mentored by a Queen Mary alumnus.
• Find a job to supplement your studies. You can find flexible work either on or off campus through our job agency, and you’ll always be paid the London Living Wage.
Our Careers and Enterprise team support you for two years after you graduate, and will help you get the edge you need in today’s job market.
We provide workshops and guidance to help you apply effectively for work experience and graduate jobs, events where you can meet employers from across the city, award-winning work experience programmes to help you gain invaluable skill and financial and other support to help you start or grow your own business or social enterprise.
If you have an original idea and dream of developing it, we’d love to help you. QIncubator is Queen Mary’s eight-week programme for start-ups and social enterprises. You’ll have access to funding opportunities – including £10,000 in equityfreeawards – and programmes and events, which support you in bringing your business idea to life.
