Following a successful pilot over the summer of 2026, the Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre (QMLAC) has launched a new clinic in which students will support clients who have recently been recognised as refugees to submit applications for refugee travel documents.
This clinic builds on the QMLAC’s existing immigration and migrant rights clinics and will support newly-recognised refugees within East London and beyond to obtain official ID and enable them to travel and potentially reunite with family members in a third country.
Support with refugee travel document applications is not funded by legal aid. Applications must be made online in English; this new clinic aims to bridge the technological and other barriers to submitting these applications. Referrals can be made from 7 September 2026 onwards for appointments in term time: https://www.qmul.ac.uk/lac/clients/advice/
