Profile

I have been a French lecturer and teacher trainer for over 30 years.

I joined Queen Mary in 2021 as a Teaching Fellow in French Language and Culture in the institution-wide Language Learning Programme.

I am also currently a lecturer in French at King’s College London for MBA students and at the University of Westminster where I have worked as French module leader and delivered Pedagogical Development for Language Teachers.

My career started at International House London where I worked as a teacher, teacher trainer and inspector (in London, Paris and Geneva). I was Head of French and leading the Modern Language Teacher Training programme.

My areas of interest focus on the fine tuning of cultural understanding and design of meaningful tasks for cross-cultural communication.

My work currently includes the design of tailor-made learning materials which aim to engage a culturally diverse student body such as cross-cultural teaching materials projects which integrate culturally responsive pedagogy and task-based learning.

In addition, I am a textile artist. I create mixed media installations which explore the use of language as art and showcase poetry narrative as a visual experience.
