Sanjaykumar Rajaratnam (Commercial and Corporate Law LLM, 2003)

Sanjaykumar Rajaratnam remembers his time studying at CCLS with great fondness.

'I was at CCLS in 2002-2003 following LLM degree programme in Commercial and Corporate Law, specialising in International Arbitration and Construction Law and Intellectual Property Law. I obtained a Merit pass. In particular, I remember with gratitude, erudite lecturers such as Dr.Julian Lew, Prof. Loukas Mistelis and Judge Humphrey Lloyd. I enjoyed my stay at CCLS, which inculcated knowledge and fellowship.'

Sanjay is the Attorney General (AG) of Sri Lanka since May 2021. Previously Acting Solicitor General, he has served the AG’s Department since April 1988 holding the posts of Senior State Counsel, Deputy Solicitor General, Additional Solicitor General and Senior Additional Solicitor General until his appointment as Acting Solicitor General in October 2019. He has appeared in several notable cases and has held consultancy in institutions such as the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. He was a member of the Cabinet-appointed Committee of Officials examining bills prior to being presented in Parliament. He is also a member of the Law Commission of Sri Lanka and the Council of Legal Education.
