PhD student in Iberian and Latin American Studies



I am currently a PhD student in Hispanic Studies at Queen Mary. I completed my MA in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Peking University (China). My thesis looks at Humour and Laughter in Early Modern Spanish Entremeses. My research is supervised by Dr Elena Carrera and Professor John London, and is funded by a China Scholarship Council Scholarship (CSC).


Research Interests:

I mainly work on early modern Spanish literature and culture, with a particular interest in:

- humour in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century entremeses (interludes)

- drama and prose of Miguel de Cervantes

- marriage, sexuality and gender in the early modern period

- early modern women’s writing
