Marta Vartolomei, BA, MA

Marta

PhD Student in Comparative Literature

Profile

My Ph.D. project explores Hans Christian Andersen’s religious views considering his tales and their film adaptations.

Trained as a literary scholar in Bucharest, Iasi, and Cologne, and formed into a theologian thanks to the orthodox priest Dr. Teodor Tabus and the Religious Studies department at the University of Cologne, I have been struck by the relation between Literature and Theology.

I completed my BA in German and Spanish Studies and my MA in Intercultural Communication. My MA thesis examined the Bible as Literature and focused on the intercultural elements contained in the stories and parables of Jesus. During my MA, I discovered the fascinating connections between these two research fields and decided to research further.

Additionally, I work as a German Teacher in a Secondary School and as a freelance editor.
