E-Resources News & Help
QMUL offers students and staff a range of books, journals, databases and media in electronic formats. These can be found through the library home page using the search box and the E-Journals by Subject and A-Z Databases list pages and can be accessed on or off campus on a variety of devices.

Learning Science is a tool that can be added to your course on QMPlus. Please get in touch with Imran Islam (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions about it.
The series consists of 22 multimedia lectures, which can be used together as a complete introductory course, or separately to learn a single topic.
- BoB - Box of Broadcasts: the publisher will no longer be able to legally provide BoB access to UK registered students in the EU after 31st December 2020. This is because the UK will no longer be covered by the relevant EU portability legislation. Any UK registered students in the EU will not be able to access BoB (apart from the BBC News Channel) from 1st January 2021.
- National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE): Clarity Informatics have advised that they will grant access to educational bodies whose students have had to return home and are now outside the UK. In the first instance you should contact your university about this, they in turn will need to contact Clarity Informatics to arrange access.
- Bloomberg resources are currently not accessible off campus due to the type of license.

Library Search shows which resources are available, and when off-campus helps direct you through the authentication process to the material you need.
The search box offers basic and advanced options. The basic search is wide ranging and allows you to discover material relating to a subject. The search can be refined using the options on the left of the result page. The advanced search allows you to search for specific titles and articles and add refinements at an earlier stage.

Our E-resource subscriptions and purchases are available to those affiliated to the College and there is a process of authentication. You may be requested to enter your Queen Mary username and password.
For most e-resources on-campus authentication is seamless, resources will know you are accessing via the College network and allow access.
A few will still require you to enter your Queen Mary username and password and you will be prompted to do so. For others you may need to register or use the login on the platform page.
When accessing e-resources off-campus it is necessary to authenticate using your Queen Mary username and password. This can be done using the red banner which displays at the top of the Library Search page when off-campus or when prompted as you click through to an item.
As mentioned in the On-campus section a few items may still require you to re-enter your Queen Mary username and password, you will be prompted to do this. For others you may need to register or find the login on the platform page.

E-Journals & Articles
QMUL library e-journals can be found through the E-Journals by Subject list. It shows available titles and the date ranges of our subscriptions, and gives direct links to the journals.
Most articles can be found using the basic and advanced searches in Library Search. Library Discovery will try to link you directly to the article but this is not always possible. In such cases you will then be directed to the journal or database page, where you will need to search for the article again.
Due to the large amount of data within Library Search errors do occur. We encourage you to contact us with these errors, it allow us to improve the service and help you access resources.
QMUL library e-books are found through the library search boxes (basic and advanced) and are sourced from different platforms and publishers. There may be restrictions on the number of users allowed to access a title at a time. Publishers and copyright owners determine how much of any particular e-book can be downloaded or printed, and you are generally not able to download or print an entire e-book.
Macs: Dawsonera books can be read on Macs but you need to have Adobe Reader installed and set as your default PDF viewer. Dawsonera e-books don’t work with Preview.

Reading Lists Online
Reading Lists are created, managed and maintained by academics and provides students with easy access to relevant lists, and to materials on those lists, through links to the Library catalogue, electronic books and journals, and other resources.
Most online resources will work in the same way as items accessed from the library catalogue and are titles QMUL has bought or subscribed to. Readings Lists may also include free resources and items available from Senate House Library and other sources.
If there are problems accessing an item you may be able to find it on the library catalogue. If you find it on the catalogue but still can't access the resource please contact us with the details. Any other issues need to be reported to your course administrator.

When contacting us please provide as much information as possible, this will help us isolate the issue and minimise the time it takes to resolve. Are you are on or off campus? Are you using a Windows machine or a Mac? Describe the steps you take from your starting point to the issue, any error messages etc. Screenshots & screencasts can also be helpful.
