Arranging Your Visit

The Archives provides access to the collections in accordance with the Archives Access Policy [PDF 163KB].

Archives Reading Room

The collections in the Archives are available for consultation by appointment in a dedicated Archives Reading Room, located on the 2nd Floor of the Mile End Library.

Booking an appointment

Please contact the Archives in advance (a minimum of two working days) to book your appointment, detailing the material which you wish to consult. Users are advised to wait for confirmation of their appointment before travelling.

Appointments are available Monday-Friday between 10am-1pm and 2pm-4.30pm. Closed 1pm-2pm for lunch.

Users are encouraged to contact the Archives in advance to discuss their research.

Registration

Users will be asked to register as an Archive user during their first visit, by completing an Archives Registration form (Registration form - 2018 [PDF 242KB]) and providing appropriate identification (e.g driving license, student card). By completing the registration procedure, archive users agree to adhere to the Regulations for Access to the Archives (see page 2 of the Registration form), which have been developed in order to preserve and protect the collections.

Portrait of Caroline Skeel

A portrait of Caroline Skeel (1872-1951) by Percy Bigland 1920 is on display in the Archives Reading Room. Caroline Skeel was a historian and classicist who established the History Department at Westfield College and was also responsible for the College Library from 1902.
