After obtaining my first Master’s degree in Laws, I knew I wanted to continue my studies with a specific focus on Human Rights. London, with its endless possibilities and rich history, was the obvious destination, so after doing my research and comparing different Human Rights programmes, I decided that Queen Mary was the best option.
I was immediately drawn to certain modules like the Use of Force in International Law, Crimes of the Powerful – State and Corporate Crime, and Illegal Speech, Censorship and Digital Rights; all of which are taught by brilliant academics. In addition to QMUL’s reputation as a prestigious university with high research and educational standards, studying at CCLS was the right choice.
Some clear highlights during my studies include many developmental and professional opportunities. I had the chance to intern at the International State Crime Initiative, which is an amazing experience since it is the area of research that interests me the most. Furthermore, I enjoyed an internship with the Queen Mary Global Policy Institute, participating in numerous projects and meeting various academics and professionals. qLegal was another great experience that allowed me to gain new skills and knowledge beyond human rights law.
The key to my programme was the thought-provoking lectures by accomplished academics and guest speakers. The teaching is outstanding, and the professors motivated me to think critically and widen my perspectives about the subjects.
Studying Human Rights Law at CCLS is definitely a great choice. Make sure to accept every opportunity and challenge that comes your way; study and read a lot; and talk with your peers and teachers.
