What influenced your decision to study at Queen Mary?

The choice of studying at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) was the single step that I strongly believe will help me to fulfil my professional aspirations of becoming a dual-qualified barrister. I chose to study an LLM at QMUL because it is best suited and tailored to my career goals. Moreover, it has offered a plethora of module choices which has given me vast opportunities to explore and gain deep insights into the commercial world.

How did you find the teaching and learning?

The quality of teaching that the distinguished professors such as Professors Rodrigo Olivares-Caminal, Stavros Brekoulakis, and Loukas Mistelis provide is simply unmatchable. The manner in which the LLM in commercial and corporate is structured and delivered is awesome. My modules are quite fascinating and it has given me a global perspective of many common and civil law countries in the world which has broadened my thinking horizons.

What piece of insight or advice would you offer for future students?

My main advice to prospective applicants is to research the university well and the specialisation you want to pursue, as it will help you to narrow down your choices and make your application a focused one. My second piece of advice will be to structure your statement of purpose properly when applying to QMUL as it should give the reasons why you want to study at QMUL, your motivation, and how this LLM will enable you to achieve your goals.

Being a student at QMUL has enabled me to have friends from across the globe and I have been able to learn from their cultures and legal systems. My university experience is enriching because I am participating in several volunteering societies which have helped me to gain transferable skills that are also vital for securing jobs. Lastly, I am thankful and indebted to QMUL for polishing and nourishing my legal career far better.
