What influenced your decision to study at CCLS, Queen Mary?

The Queen Mary Centre for Commercial Law Studies is notably one of the most efficient and prestigious in the legal sector. From the extensive research to its perfect location, students can expect to feel the full experience while studying in the heart of law. I personally chose to embark on a master’s here due to the widely available resources and material, which allowed me to refine my legal knowledge and understanding of corporate and commercial law.

How did you find the teaching and learning?

I found the teaching and learning to be very communicative and informative. The institution offers a high calibre of well-accredited teachers who, in return, set high expectations for the class to succeed. This provides a healthy environment for students who would love to excel in their module. I have been able to partake in modules such as the Law of Film, which I found so vigorously interesting and became successful in attaining a first in the module. However, a highlight for me has been in the Mergers and Acquisitions module, where such detail was provided, and a great display of example material helped me gain confidence in my understanding of the subject.

Has gaining a deeper understanding of your specialisation helped your career?

The research and reading I have done on each subject has allowed me to grasp a wider view of the corporate and commercial worlds. Whether the subject covers transactions, finance, or litigation, I now not only possess the skill but also the understanding of what steps to take or advice to give on the subject matter. This is especially useful when I apply for legal opportunities, and I provide an understanding of the roles I am applying for and can empathise with the type of candidate they are looking for.

What piece of insight or advice would you offer for future students?

The type of advice I would offer a prospective student is to use your experience to the fullest. Attend the social events, society events, and legal events, as you will be able to network and might meet some very important people in your life. The university is situated in the heart of Legal London. Use this opportunity wisely and channel your innovation and legal keenness towards acquiring knowledge from those who came before.

Would you be willing to share your Testimonial? If so, you could help a prospective student to make an informed choice to study at Queen Mary. (Class of 2021, 2022 and 2023 only).
