This course aims to provide students with the analytical skills developed by law and economist scholars, and the legal framework to develop their own research. First, this course aimes to provide students with the analytical skills to understand the relationship between law and economics using a variety of methods. Second, the course aims to equip students with the legal background and the legal framework to develop their own research.
This module investigates the intersection of law and economics. It discusses how economics has been used to analyse different areas of the law (e.g. contract law). This module discusses how the law impacts economic analysis. The module looks at the neoclassical economic model, market failures, behavioural economics and their application to the law. The module looks at how laws shape economic models. Students will also study a variety of laws (e.g. corporate law) and their applications to economic reasoning.
