How did you find the teaching and learning?

I began the LLM in Energy and Natural Resources Law in January 2021. Due to the pandemic, classes and other activities were held online. I chose to study at QMUL as it is well known for its excellence in research and teaching. Regarding the application, I applied to the university by myself, without the need for intermediary agencies. The application was simple and straightforward.

I can say that my program is one of the best in the world. Although classes were online, there were still rich debates and interactions between the professors and students.

I have been linked to the energy market and the world of natural resources for years, since I have worked as a Legal Manager in an energy company and as National Chief Legal Officer of the Government Water Agency in Chile. For this reason, I decided to choose an LLM in energy and natural resource law.

Did you combine modules across specialisations and if so, what were the advantages of this?

During my LLM studies, I have been able to combine different modules, for example, I opted for some financial specialism modules. I believe that by studying a combination of modules, I will be able to acquire knowledge on various legal issues which will enable me to understand energy projects and global aspects in international transactions.

What piece of insight or advice would you offer for future students?

My advice to future students on this programme is to enjoy their time at university. Also, make the most of the university’s facilities and do not hesitate to interact with fellow students, professors or staffs as they will be able to get to know cultures and traditions of students given that QMUL has a wide international community.

Has gaining a deeper understanding of your specialisation helped your career?

My plan is to work here in London, either in a law firm or in a company and I strongly believe that my studies and experiences at QMUL will definitely help me in achieving this goal.

Would you be willing to share your Testimonial? If so, you could help a prospective student to make an informed choice to study at Queen Mary. (Class of 2020, 2021 and 2022 only).
