MRes modules

The MRes Human programmes are currently available for one year full-time study. You will take two compulsory modules and 90 credits of electives spread between Semesters I and II followed by a dissertation of 15,000 words to be completed by the beginning of September following entry.

Full details of the structure and modules available on each of our MRes programmes are below:

Human Rights Law MRes

There are three compulsory modules:

  • SOLM 925 Dissertation (Sem 1 & 2) (30 credits)
  • POLM082 Introduction to Social Science Research 1: Epistemology, research design and qualitative methods (30 credits)
  • POLM 083 Introduction to Social Science 2: Quantitative methods and data (30 credits)

Plus elective modules up to a total of 90 credits selected from the following options:

Immigration Law MRes

There are three compulsory modules:

  • SOLM925 Dissertation (Sem 1 & 2) (30 credits)
  • POLM082 Introduction to Social Science Research: Epistemology, research design and qualitative methods (Sem 1) (30 credits)
  • POLM083 Introduction to Social Science 2: quantitative methods and data (Sem 2) (30 credits).

Plus elective modules up to a total of 90 credits selected from the following options:

Public International Law MRes

There are three compulsory modules:

  • SOLM925 Dissertation (Sem 1 - 3) (30 credits)
  • Introduction to Social Science Research: Epistemology, research design and qualitative methods (Sem 2) (30 credits)
  • Introduction to Social Science: Quantitative methods and data (Sem 1) (30 credits)
