MRes modules

The MRes programmes are currently available for one year full-time study. You will take two compulsory modules and 90 credits of electives spread between Semesters I and II followed by a dissertation of 10,000 words to be completed by the beginning of September following entry.

Full details of the structure, as well as compulsory and example optional modules available on each of our MRes programmes are below (please note, this information is subject to change):

There are three compulsory modules:

  • SOLM 925 Dissertation (Sem 1 & 2) (30 credits)
  • POLM082 Introduction to Social Science Research 1: Epistemology, research design and qualitative methods (30 credits)
  • POLM 083 Introduction to Social Science 2: Quantitative methods and data (30 credits)

Plus elective modules up to a total of 90 credits of optional modules. Example optional modules are:
