Tutorial 1 for Data Protection Day 2022 – Creating, using and storing passwords

So many passwords to manage these days! How do you remember them all and keep them secure? This session will explain about good password practices, such as advice on why weak passwords are bad and how to create strong ones. Guidance on password managers will also provide attendees with an overview of action they can take to improve their routines and make their lives easier when numerous passwords don’t need to be remembered or written down. This event last around 25 mins with time to ask questions.

Tutorial 2 for Data Protection Day 2022 – GDPR Data Subject Rights

Data protection legislation provides individuals with a number of rights, such as accessing a copy of your own personal information. This session will give an overview of data subjects’ rights to make you aware of what these are and how some of them might be exercised in real life. Have you ever wondered what personal data an organisation holds about you or how you might stop it using your data? Then this session is for you. This event last around 25 mins with time to ask questions.

Tutorial 3 for Data Protection Day 2022 – Privacy settings and cybersecurity

This session will provide some practical advice of what attendees can do to maximise their privacy when using a mobile device and using the Internet. What settings does a user need to look at and change? What other measures can s/he take or bear in mind to keep data private and improve the security of their device? We will show you what to do. This event last around 25 mins with time to ask questions.

Tutorial 4 for Data Protection Day 2022 – What to do when a device is lost or stolen

Help, I can’t find my device! If you lost your phone, would you know what actions you should take to secure it and the information on it? And maybe even locate it? Whether a personal device or one belonging to Queen Mary, it’s important to know how you might prevent unauthorised use of it and/or access to the data on it. This event last around 25 mins with time to ask questions.
