Howard University

As an exchange student, there are a few things you need to know about going to Howard University. Learn more about the location, the courses and student life!

About

Howard University, located in Washington D.C. 2 miles from the US Capitol Building, is an institution that has historically had a student body from a BME background.

The exchange allows two QM students to spend the autumn semester at Howard taking three academic modules. Instead of module no. 4, the student will do an internship provided by Howard University (with either a member of Congress, a congressional office, or with the Mayor’s office). This internship would earn QM credit. In reciprocity, Howard students will come to QM and take three QM academic modules and do an internship organised by Simon Woolley, Chair of Operation Black Vote and a QM alumni.

Location

Washington, D.C., the U.S. capital and one of the most livable cities on the East Coast, is a welcoming and dynamic urban centre filled with students and young professionals. With residents of every nationality and culture, D.C. truly brings the world together to do the nation’s business.

Exchange students quickly discover the many amenities and activities that Washington, D.C., offers to enhance their time at GW, including museums, restaurants, shopping, walking and biking trails, as well as a full array of professional sports teams, festivals, and cultural celebrations.
