What is Home Share?
Two Generations 'homesharer' is a potential housing option if you want to be matched with an older person who has space within their home but might need some help or assistance for between 10 and 20 hours per week.

How does it work?
After getting to know you through the application process, Two Generations will match you with a householder who suits you best and is looking for the type of support you are able to offer.
This support may include cooking, some household chores, food shopping, IT support, driving to appointments or perhaps gardening. Each Householder is unique and may want different types of help.
As a sharer you are never expected to help with any personal care such as bathing, dressing or administering medication.
As part of the matching process DBS checks and referencing will be undertaken.
What are the requirements?
Homeshare is most suitable for those who genuinely enjoy helping others and prefer to be home in the evenings. You need to:
- Have the right to live in the UK
- Be at least 21
- Have no criminal record
- Be willing to give on average 40 hours per month of help
- Provide 2 references
- Are preferably able to commit to a minimum 12 month period
- Spend most evenings during the week at home
- Provide ID, proof of current address and proof you can afford £299 monthly. These are used as part of our Enhanced DBS check.
At present Two Generations do not accept joint applications. Homesharers who require other people to stay over will be assessed on a case by case basis. If you are in a relationship, please consider this when applying.
How do I apply?
You can apply directly to the Two Generations scheme using the online form, once you have confirmed you are able to meet the requirements, as outlined above. You do not need to contact Housing Services to apply to join the scheme.
What if I want more information?
More information is available on the Two Generations website, you can also contact them via email or telephone on 03333 44 77 38 and should inform them that you are a Queen Mary student so they know how you have found their information.
What do current homesharers say about the scheme?
