Profile

João Pereira dos Santos is an UKRI Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Economics and Finance at QMUL. He is an Assistant Professor at ISEG – University of Lisbon (on leave), an IZA – Institute for Labor Economics research affiliate, and a research fellow at RWI – Leibniz Institute for Economics Research. 

His research interests are at the intersection of empirical public economics, policy evaluation, and economic history. He received his PhD from Nova School of Business and Economics in 2021. He was a visiting student at Harvard University during the spring semester of 2019 with a scholarship from Fulbright-FCT and completed the Advanced Studies Program in the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in 2016.

Between 2019 and 2021, João served as a technical advisor for Economic Affairs in the cabinet of the Secretary of State Assistant to the Portuguese Prime-Minister.
