We are pleased to confirm that the HSS Student Research Bursary Scheme Spring 2022-23 is now open for applications from students in the School of Economic Finance and Economics. Deadline for applications is 12.00pm on Monday 13 March 2023. Complete application forms should be sent via email to the attention of Isabella D’Adamo to econ-research@qmul.ac.uk.
This bursary scheme provides an opportunity to undertake paid research work, to be completed over 15 weeks between 3 April -14 July 2023, within the School of Economics and Finance. Research projects will be carried out under the guidance of an academic member of staff within the School of Economics and Finance. The aim of the scheme is to help students make appropriate career plans, and to understand the employability assets that they will offer future employers. Students will also be encouraged to reflect on their learning experiences through their research.
Applications will be checked and assessed against the skills and knowledge evidenced in the application. The outcome will be confirmed to students by Friday 24th March 2023.
This opportunity is open to Y2 UG, Y3/4 UG and Postgraduate Taught students (PGT) and Master by Research (MRes).
Work patterns may be agreed with the academic lead; however, all work must be completed by 14th July 2023. Feedback will be requested from both staff and students before this date, to allow time to process details for students' Higher Education Achievement Records.
Selected student will receive a £1000 bursary for a time commitment of no more than 80 hours which students will be able to commit flexibly over the 15 weeks to the specified project in line with the London Living Wage. Bursaries will be paid in two instalments – half prior to commencing work and half upon successful completion of the project
Following the completion of the project, it is anticipated that students will be able to evidence the experiential learning acquired and the skills they developed, via the Higher Education Achievement Record. Please note that this applies only to students who complete the scheme in this 2022/23 academic year.
