Advisory Board

The MSc Mental Health Economics Advisory Board has responsibility for reviewing and advising on module and programme objectives.

This will ensure that the programme content and structure will equip students with the skills and tools they need to make a real impact in improving mental health policies and outcomes.

The current members of the Board are:

  • Francesca Cornaglia, Associate Professor of Economics, working on addictive behaviour, well-being and mental health with research agenda on health care choices, and co-director of the programme.
  • Mark Freestone, Reader in Mental Health and Director of Education & Deputy Director of the Wolfson Institute of Population Health, Director of Education and co-director of the programme.
  • Benedetto Saraceno, a psychiatrist working in the mental health system. Director of the Department of Mental Health and Substance Dependence of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva and Secretary-General at Lisbon Institute.
  • Silvia Evers, Professor of Public Health Technology Assessment at Maastricht University (UM) and scientific director of the Care and Public Health Research Institute (CAPHRI).
  • Richard Frank, director of the USC-Brookings Schaeffer Initiative on Health Policy. He is the Margaret T. Morris Professor of Health Economics, Emeritus, in the Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School
  • Martin Knapp, Professor of Health and Social Care Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), based in the Health Policy Department. He is also a Professorial Research Fellow in the Care Policy and Evaluation Centre (CPEC) at the LSE
  • Denise Razzouk, Professor and researcher on Mental Health Economics at Universidade Federal de Sao Paulo (Unifesp)
  • Hedinn Unnsteinsson, Senior Policy Analyst, Prime Minister’s Office, Iceland
  • Scott Cunningham, professor of economics at Baylor University
  • Benedetto Saraceno, Secretary General of the Lisbon Institute of Global Mental Health, CEDOC/NOVA Medical School, Lisbon
  • Vijaya Nath, Experienced Medical Leadership specialist and executive coach to NHS Healthcare professionals from ward to board.
  • Keith Leslie, Chair at Samaritans.
