Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

The School of Mathematical Sciences is committed to equal opportunities and fostering an environment where all can flourish.

We are proud to hold a Bronze award under the Athena SWAN charter and Registered Supporter status for the London Mathematical Society Good Practice Scheme.

The Athena SWAN Charter is a national scheme that promotes gender equality throughout higher education and research by recognising and celebrating good employment practice for women working in mathematics, science, engineering and technology in higher education and research. Our departmental-level Bronze Award was obtained in April 2013 and renewed in 2016 and 2022. This renewal included a wide ranging action plan for advancing equality which are now standard practice in our School.

As Head of School, I see my commitment to the Athena SWAN Charter as being fundamental to my role; but I also have a personal responsibility to ensure that my colleagues are able to progress through their careers regardless of gender."
