The Athena SWAN Charter is a national scheme that promotes gender equality throughout higher education and research by recognising and celebrating good employment practice for women working in mathematics, science, engineering and technology in higher education and research. Our departmental-level Bronze Award was obtained in April 2013 and renewed in 2016. This renewal included a wide ranging action plan for advancing equality which we are currently implementing.
