Help with Library Search
Library Search allows you to search across a wide range of resources held or subscribed by the Library. You can search for:
- All physical items held by the Library such as print books, print journals, DVDs and more
- All resources in electronic format licenced by the Library such as e-books, e-journals, and multimedia items
- Individual articles within licensed databases and journals
How it works
Library Search utilises data from the Library catalogue and from a third party service called EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS).
The default search is set to Local Search. By using this search tool you will retrieve the following:
- Books
- Journals
- DVDs/Blu-rays/Videos
- Microform
- Theses
- Print Law Reports
- Queen Mary Research Online (QMRO)
Global Search is a wider search interface enabling you to simultaneously browse the ‘Local Search’ and a huge range of online resources licenced by the Library. Indeed, in addition to the above, the ‘Global Search’ functionality includes:
- E-books
- Articles
- E-journals
- Databases
- Abstracts
- Citations
- Conference proceedings
- Online Reports
Search tips
We advise you to tailor your choice of search tool to the situation.
If you wish to undertake a more targeted search, within specific indexes and databases that the Library provides access to, we recommend you to use the ‘Advanced search’ functionality.
Please note: for comprehensive searches for articles in your subject area, we suggest you to use the recommended databases for your particular subject, which may also provide more powerful search facilities.
