LAW6461 Law in Asia

This module introduces students to the basic problems that we encounter in the attempt to make sense of law in Asia. The module covers a study of Asian legal systems through a variety of conceptual and theoretical problem areas including Orientalism, colonialism, legal pluralism, legal transplantation, post-conflict reconstruction and the role of the state. This is a reading and discussion intensive module and therefore requires a willingness to read and reflect on relevant reading materials poor to each seminar.
