LAW6028 Commercial and Consumer Law

Employment Law: Practice and Procedure will look at modern working practices in the UK including the "gig economy" and zero hour contracts. It will build on the foundation knowledge of employee rights and will include a section on discrimination. It will examine the most common claims presented to the Employment Tribunal and will demonstrate how such claims are brought (and defended), the process leading up to a tribunal hearing and what to expect at a final hearing. Students will be expected to give a presentation during the course of the module on some aspect of the gig economy.

Method of assessment

  • Written exam (60%)
  • 10-minute online presentation (40%)
