Module description

SOLM266 provides students with the opportunity to focus on advanced aspects of an area of law and to undertake independent research with a view to orally presenting their research in class for discussion. Through academic debate and discussion, the module will cover advanced and topical issues in law based on respective developments in law and policy. The module thus provides students with an opportunity to engage with current developments through detailed and sustained research. A general topic will be announced at the beginning of the academic year, together with a list of topics from which students may choose, and topics may also be suggested by individual students for consideration by the module convenor. Students are expected to produce a research paper as coursework and to present their findings in class for discussion. Details on the specific content and topics for each academic year will be provided at induction.
