SOLM029 Chinese Business Law

Module Description

The module will introduce the structure of the Chinese legal system, its cultural and political background and historical development. With these in mind, it will then cover major business and commercial law areas, including company, contract and trade law; taxation; financial regulation; and dispute resolution and litigation, with a particular focus on their application to foreign businesses, investors and individuals.

The module will provide students with an understanding of the principles and rules of the Chinese business and commercial law regimes. It will also provide them with the knowledge and skills to study the Chinese business and commercial legal system in greater depth.

No knowledge of Chinese is required to take the module, but students will be expected to become familiar with the relevant Chinese business and legal terms.
