Dr Prakash Shah was a guest on the Vivekananda International Foundation Podcast discussing the California Senate approved Senate Bill No. 403, which would amend many existing laws on discrimination in California to add the protected characteristic of caste.
He discusses what evidence there is for caste discrimination in the United States, how will the bill impact the understanding of caste, how it will affect the lives of Indians living abroad, and how it will affect India. Dr Prakash Shah is Reader in Culture and Law at Queen Mary University of London.
