Gamers fear for virtual assets as rate cut hits 'Animal Crossing' savings

Gamers have fewer rights over their virtual property than they might expect, say digital experts. Their virtual savings have been slashed in hit video game "Animal Crossing" to cushion the financial blow of the coronavirus pandemic. "This episode highlights that players often engage with video games having little or no awareness or understanding of the contractual arrangements to which they have agreed," says Dr Michaela MacDonald, Teaching Fellow from Queen Mary University of London.
