Published:

Merris Amos, Professor of Human Rights Law at Queen Mary University of Law (QMUL), was interviewed on BBC 5 Live Drive regarding victims of serious crime. After a ruling by the Supreme Court, victims may be able to sue the police regarding failure in investigations. She said: “This duty to conduct effective investigations is very important especially where someone has been subject to a serious crime.” She added: “I don’t agree that it’s going to require diversion resources in the way that’s it’s been described by the Metropolitan Police.” On the seriousness of the John Worboys case she stated: “The failures is just a chain of failures and a chain of victims as a result.” Listen to her interview (from 7:40).
