Professor Kate Malleson - "Gender inequality damages the judicial system"

Kate Malleson, Professor of Law at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), argues against comments made by Supreme Court Justice, Lord Sumption, that a push for equality in the judiciary could put men off applying for roles. “What is curious”, she says, “is that the current dramatic overrepresentation of white, male, barristers from wealthy backgrounds in the senior judiciary is not itself seen as weakening the quality of the judiciary”.
