Dr Rafael Leal-Arcas cited by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

Dr Rafael Leal-Arcas, Reader in European and International Economic Law at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies of Queen Mary University of London, has been cited by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is ‘the leading international body for the assessment of climate change. It was established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in 1988 to provide the world with a clear scientific view on the current state of knowledge in climate change and its potential environmental and socio-economic impacts. In the same year, the UN General Assembly endorsed the action by WMO and UNEP in jointly establishing the IPCC.

Both publications have been cited by the IPCC 5th Assessment Report, Working Group III, ‘Climate Change 2014: Mitigation of Climate Change,’ Chapter 13, pp. 12, 36, 43, 109.

The IPCC’s 5th Assessment Report (AR5) ‘provides a clear and up to date view of the current state of scientific knowledge relevant to climate change. It consists of three Working Group (WG) reports and a Synthesis Report (SYR).
