IELR 3.1 Launch Event Copyright Perspectives on Creativity

Date: 25 November 2020

Abstract

To celebrate the publication of the latest IELR issue, we hosted an online launch event.

Speakers

  • Daniel Lintaman, author of 'Unusual canvasses: resolving copyright infringement through the lens of community customs'.
  • Anthony Michael Catton, author of 'What is mine in Minecraft? Assessing the copyright and ownership of in-game player creations'.
  • Oliver Brown, author of 'The author's arsenal: loosening standards for protectability and substantial similarity in video game copyright'.

This informal fireside chat session, chaired by Dr Michaela MacDonald (Queen Mary University of London), will explore more unusual perspectives on copyright and how it defines creativity.

Interactive Entertainment Law Review (IELR) serves as a peer-reviewed hub for legal analysis of interactive entertainment, video games, virtual/augmented/mixed realities, social media, and all related and emergent forms of digital interactive entertainment. The journal is published twice a year with articles focusing on the legal changes, challenges and controversies in this high profile and increasingly critical area of legal inquiry. Contributions from academic, industry and legal practitioners are sought and welcomed.
