“Trump Trades”: Stock Market Speculators Lured by the Smell of Trumpism

Dr Daniele D'Alvia comments on how Donald Trump’s victory is affecting the stock market for France 24.

Many businesses with links to the Trump universe have exploded on the stock market since his presidential election win on 5 November. These include Trump Media, Tesla, and Bitcoin. This phenomenon says a lot about the preferences and hopes of investors.

Dr Daniele D'Alvia, Lecturer in Banking and Finance Law at Queen Mary University of London, said: "Investors think they can trust him, because he is a businessman who knows the stock market, and also because he has given the impression of having clear ideas and pro-market priorities".
