Novembre Valerio profile imageI was a visiting PhD student at QMUL in Spring-Summer 2008, finalising my PhD thesis under the co-supervision of Prof. Rosa Lastra. I later obtained my PhD in December 2008 with a thesis on the National Implementation of the Basel II Capital Accord.

Following my PhD, I started my professional career working in both academia and policy making. For around six years, I was an economist at the Research and Policy Department of CONSOB, the Italian Financial Markets Authority and served at the same time as Adjunct Lecturer in Risk Management and Regulation at the University of Florence and at the European University of Rome.

More recently, I joined the European and Securities Markets Authority (ESMA), where I am currently a Senior Policy Officer. I am responsible for the areas of takeover and corporate governance and I coordinate the Capital Markets Union project within ESMA.

My time at QMUL enhanced my academic skills in European banking and financial regulation, while at the same time broadening my perspective with a practical and multidisciplinary approach and the ability to see and interpret market changes and challenges. I am very grateful to QMUL and Prof Rosa Lastra for being an important element of my career development.
