CCLS China Chapter is a CCLS community in China organised by alumni, for alumni. The group facilitates professional networking and socialising opportunities, bringing together alumni from different years and specialisms together. CCLS China Chapter holds regular academic, professional and social events online and offline.

The theme of this event is a widely debated hot topic - Real Estate Tax. The legislative purpose of the real estate tax law is mainly to improve the local tax system and regulate the real estate market. In 2011, China began to collect real estate tax on a pilot basis in Shanghai and Chongqing, but academics and industry still hold different views on the rationality, taxability, and future development direction of real estate tax.

We were honoured to have Dr Bernard Schneider, Academic Director of the Institute of Tax Law at CCLS, and some famous Chinese scholars and practitioners to discuss the development of real estate tax in the UK, the US, Canada, and China.

Speakers:

  • Dr Bernard Schneider - Academic Director of the Institute of Tax Law at CCLS
  • Professor Wei XIONG - Distinguished Professor and Dean of Law School of Shenzhen University
  • Professor Yangguang XU - Professor of Law School of Renmin University of China, Deputy Secretary-General of China Law Society Fiscal and Taxation Law Research Association
  • Professor Manman TU - Director of the Law Department of Guangdong University of Finance
  • Ms Lexie WEN - Lawyer
  • Ms Yanting PEI - Lawyer
