Barts Cardiovascular Clinical Trials Unit (CVCTU)

The Barts CVCTU is a Barts Charity funded Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) that supports trials delivering therapeutic innovation for patients with heart disease. We are a branch of the Barts CTU (ID:4) - a UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) registered unit.

Our mission is to support cardiovascular research by delivering excellence in the design, conduct, and dissemination of clinical trials with the aim of improving patient care.

We support clinical studies focused on the broad area of cardiovascular research. Our current portfolio provides services and support to clinical trials conducted within the Barts Heart Centre, Barts Health NHS Trust, and Queen Mary University of London.

Our unit provides trial expertise and support and oversight to local investigators for trial collaborations; however, we also welcome investigators outside of our affiliated organisations. The Barts CVCTU consists of a dedicated core team who manage the day-to day running of clinical trials, with CVCTU trial portfolio adoption coordinated by the Scientific and Resource Committees, and a Steering Committee to oversee resources, development and strategic direction.
