The William Harvey Research Institute - Barts and The London

Clinical activities

We have major academic and clinical partnerships as part of the UCL Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC), which connects us to 16 NHS trusts and 5 million people in North Central and East London and in which we play a key role in the cardiovascular programme.

Barts Health NHS Trust is our key NHS partner with clinical academic activity and translational research at both Barts and the Royal London Hospital:

  • University College London Partners
  • Barts Health Cardiovascular Clinical Academic Group
  • Barts Health Musculoskeletal Clinical Academic Group
  • Barts Endocrinology
  • University College Heart Hospital

The William Harvey Clinical Research Centre is part of the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre at Barts and the cardiovascular programme at the Barts Heart Centre. The Centre conducts influential clinical trials that make a positive impact on patient care locally.

As the cardiovascular research hub for the Barts Heart Centre, the William Harvey Heart Centre provides a flow of innovative new therapies from the laboratory to patients suffering from heart disease across north-east London and beyond.

The Barts Cardiovascular Clinical Trials Unit is a core resource providing infrastructure support for clinical cardiovascular research within the Barts Heart Centre and Queen Mary University of London.
