Andreas Schönle and Anna Ananieva joined the international conference organized by the Institute of Russian Literature – Pushkin House – Russian Academy of Sciences in St Petersburg to celebrate the 250th anniversary of writer, critic and historian Nikolay Mikhailovich Karamzin. Professor Schönle gave a paper on “N.M. Karamzin and economic thought in 1801-1803”. Dr Ananieva presented a talk on the meanings of elegantia in the poetical debate between Karamzin and Shishkov.
