Research Platform - Data Science for the Environment and Sustainability

istock purchased 140621

Responding to the increasing need to counteract the ongoing impacts of climate change, and the need to adopt more sustainable, and environmentally friendly ways of living, this Research Theme focuses on how Data Science and AI approaches can be applied to tackle global challenges.

Headed by Professor Cédric John, Professor and Head of Data Science for the Environment and Sustainability, research unites researchers from across multiple disciplines to address environment challenges, harnessing the power of AI to identify solutions to increasingly concerning issues. Current research includes applying AI and machine techniques to Earth and planetary systems, using data techniques, amongst others, to research energy relaxation in molecular systems, and applying computer vision to geological images.
