Professor Shemtov interviewed for CNN's Quest Means Business

The interview concerned the recently filed New York Times’ lawsuit against OpenAI.

The complaint states, amongst other things, that OpenAI and Microsoft are developing and enhancing their AI capabilities through the “unlawful use of The New York Times’s work to create artificial intelligence products that compete with it and threatens The Times’s ability to provide that service.”

In the interview, Noam Shemtov, Professor of Intellectual Property and Technology Law at Queen Mary University of London said: "In most cases, the use of copyrighted material in the training of chatbots is likely to involve copyright infringement. This is what the dispute is all about."
