The ceremony was held on the 25 May at the Law Society and recognised the people and teams that make creative, dynamic and world-class research and innovation possible at Queen Mary.

On the 13 June, over 25 qLegal staff, students, alumni and partners participated and donated in the London Legal Walk. The annual event raises vital funds for free legal advice charities and the qLegal team raised £310 in support of such important causes.

  • produced 55 advice letters,
  • provided legal support as externs to 34 startups,
  • created 12 podcast episodes,
  • undertook one legal design project, and
  • delivered 15 workshops for aspiring entrepreneurs.

The students worked hard over the past year and enjoyed celebrating their achievements together.

The evening started with keynote speeches from qLegal Director, Karen Watton; a valued volunteer and General Counsel at Staffbase, Stephanie Dominy; qLegal alum and Junior Legal and Product Specialist at Robin AI, Nika Videtic; and former client and founder of Amplified Global, Minesh Patel.  The speeches highlighted qLegal's role in nurturing the next generation of lawyers, the importance of staying creative in an AI-dominated industry, making law more accessible, and embracing a positive attitude towards trying and failing. These were followed by refreshments and the qLegal tradition of a pub quiz.

These events were a wonderful way to conclude a successful year. The qLegal team are excited to begin their 10th year of activity in September and are committed to continuing to help the next generation of lawyers help the next generation of clients to create value in the world.
