The Right Honourable Lord Kitchin, Court of Appeal has been appointed to the Supreme Court

The School of Law at Queen Mary University of London is delighted to congratulate The Lord Kitchin on his appointment to the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom as Justice on 1 October 2018.

Professor Spyros Maniatis, Head of the Centre for Commercial Law Studies and sits on the CCLS Advisory Council, said:  “This is an excellent appointment! David is a brilliant mind, an internationally respected intellectual property lawyer, and a great friend of CCLS, critical and supportive at the same time. Working with him has been a privilege. “

Lord Kitchin is the Chair of the Advisory Council of the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary University of London. The Centre for Commercial Law Studies’ Advisory Council provides non-legal and non-financial advice on a range of activity that CCLS is engaged in. It supports its development and gives the Centre a perspective from business and the profession.

Sir David was also awarded an honorary LL.D by the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary University of London. In addition to the above, Lord Kitchin was also member of the Queen Mary Council from December 2006 until June 2011. The Queen Mary University of London Council is responsible for overseeing the strategic mission, direction and affairs of the institution. Council sits at the pinnacle of QMUL's corporate governance framework. 

The Centre for Commercial Law Studies wishes Lord Kitchin all the best for his future and is looking forward to continuing to work with him.
