Film Fashion Forum: Pick Up The Thread!

When: Monday, June 5, 2023, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Where: Lecture Theatre, Centre For Commercial Law Studies 67-69 Lincoln's Inn Fields London WC2A

The UN defines sustainability as ‘meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.’ What does this mean in fashion? What are our fashion needs? What are our fashion needs in the future? Sustainability is a crucial and urgent discussion in fashion. It is part of the discussions around fashion’s impact on the environment, labour practices and conditions, textile innovation and waste, retail and resale, advertising and influencers, and more. Bringing diverse expertise from textile innovation through to cooperative retail spaces, this Forum assembles a panel of brands, consultants, legal practitioners and researchers, all working in sustainability in fashion, to discuss these urgent issues.

The Brands

The Suitstainable Man - The pursuance of style, craftsmanship, and sustainability.

CQ Studio - Turning waste into worth.

Platform - Independent. Sustainable. Luxury.

The Panel

Veronica Bates Kassatly (Sustainability Analyst and Consultant)
Georgia Carr (Associate IP Solicitor, Potter Clarkson)
Ric Rodriguez (Independent Consultant)
Jenni Redstone (Edy and Bridge)

Chair: Professor Johanna Gibson (Herchel Smith Professor of Intellectual Property Law, CCLS, QMUL Convenor, Film and Fashion Law)

What is the Film Fashion Forum?

The Film Fashion Forum is a series of conversations with creatives on the law, art and business of film and fashion, chaired by Johanna Gibson, Herchel Smith Professor of Intellectual Property Law and Convenor of Film and Fashion Law at CCLS, QMUL.

It aims to put the creative work at the heart of the discussion and build a dynamic dialogue with the diverse publics around creative enterprise.
