Artificial Intelligence (AI) is more than ever at the center of both the legislative debate and the public opinion in every part of the globe. The dramatic increase of computing capabilities and the unlimited online access to enormous quantities of data have spurred the acceleration of the development and the uptake of AI technologies. Both the European Union and the United Kingdom have brought forward their strategies to regulate AI at every step of its life cycle from their respective unique legal standpoints. Although the approaches to AI regulation may differ, given its cross-border effects and impact on society as a whole, the European Union and the United Kingdom have come to terms with the same issues providing a response to the necessity of a balance between the risks and the benefit of AI.
