CCLS Spain Chapter Welcome Event

Zoom event for the launch of the CCLS Spanish Chapter

The launch of the CCLS Spain Chapter was an opportunity for alumni and students to meet the Chapter lead Roberto Muñoz Rojo (Comparative & International Dispute Resolution, 2014) as well as hearing from CCLS Director Professor Ian Walden and Professor Rosa Lastra, Chair in Banking and Finance Law. Rosa also has a special interest in Spanish alumni.

Roberto talked about the objectives for the Chapter and the benefits of being part of the Ryder Club. There will be opportunities to connect with people from different backgrounds. Even within the Chapter, alumni are from different law disciplines, are different ages and some alumni have left law, so there will be a great mix of experiences.

There will be more information on upcoming activities in the coming months. Alumni are welcome to channel ideas for the Chapter.

Here are a few comments made during the evening:

  • Liena Rubene (Commercial and Corporate Law LLM, 2008) is from Latvia and works in the Costa Blanca. She is currently active in real estate and remains interested in law.
  • Manuel Gómez Carrión (Comparative and International Dispute Resolution LLM, 2013) recollected: ‘It was nice to see Professor Rosa Lastra present as I remember auditing one of her sessions at the beginning of the LLM. I stayed a few years in London and have since returned to Madrid. I am very glad to see this Chapter set up.’
  • Núria Ribera (Intellectual Property Law LLM, 2014) said ‘I owe a huge debt of gratitude to CCLS for helping me develop not only my legal knowledge but also many other professional skills. I am glad we now have the chance to give back by contributing to a Spanish alumni community!’
  • José Luis Huerta (Commercial and Corporate Law LLM, 1990) said ‘I think this Chapter is a great idea. I know quite a few more alumni that I can reach out to who would be interested.’

Roberto summed up: ‘Thrilled to have officially presented the CCLS Spain Chapter. This is a giant opportunity to become part of something bigger and to foster relationships with colleagues worldwide and particularly in Spain’.

Please could everyone spread the word about the new CCLS Spain Chapter as there are quite a few Spanish alumni whom we have lost touch with.

Also if anyone is interested in being on the committee, please get in touch to express your interest.

You can join other alumni on the CCLS Spain LinkedIn.
