Gustavo Hirsch (Intellectual Property Law, LLM 2023) explains why he decided to help create and join the Intellectual Property Chapter Committee.

Tell us about yourself.

My name is Gustavo Hirsch. I completed an LLM in Intellectual Property Law in 2023. I have been based in London since working as a Partner in Daniel Law firm.

Why did you decide to get involved with the CCLS Intellectual Property Law Alumni Chapter?

The idea of establishing an IP Chapter first occurred to me after an alumni event at CCLS in March 2025, where several alumni living in the UK thought that it would be good to meet more and also know more about other former students.

I then learned that there was not an IP Chapter yet, as most chapters are country-based rather than subject specific. With some ideas in mind, I got in touch with the Alumni Team, and we all concluded that an IP Chapter would not only be appropriate but would complement other existing alumni chapters and other initiatives. I then spoke with two alumni – Janhavi Kapadia (Intellectual Property Law LLM, 2023); Stefano Incarbone (Intellectual Property Law LLM, 2022) –, who became the first two committee members.

How do you hope the Chapter will benefit alumni who join?

As this is a brand-new group, our first objectives will be to organise meetings with other alumni and open the floor for discussions on what types of activities everyone will want to have.
