BATLAA-BLSA Dinner 2017

12 May 2017

Time: 6:30 - 10:00pm
Venue: The Charterhouse, Charterhouse Square, London, EC1M 6AN

The BATLAA-BLSA Dinner is being organised by the Barts and The London Alumni Association (BATLAA), in collaboration with the Barts and The London Students' Association (BLSA) and the School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Following the success of the inauguration dinner last year (see images here), this event will celebrate the spirit of Barts and The London. The dinner is a wonderful opportunity to meet current students and reconnect with friends and former teammates, as well as mark the achievements of our clubs and societies over the last year.

The evening will commence with a drinks reception from 6.30pm, followed by a short history and introduction to the Charterhouse. At 7.30pm, we will sit down for a three course dinner in the grand surroundings of the Great Chamber, where Queen Elizabeth and James I once held court. Carriages will be at 10pm.

The Charterhouse (Sutton’s Hospital), historically connected to the School’s Charterhouse Square campus, is located at Charterhouse Square, London, EC1M 6AN. Please see www.thecharterhouse.org/visit-us for a map and directions.

Support Sport and Barts and The London

At Barts and The London, sport plays an important part of the fabric of the School. For many students, competing as part of a team goes hand in hand with academic study to create a rich, complementary experience. We would like to ensure that our talented students have all the resources they need to compete at the highest level.

We would be delighted if you consider making a donation, which would directly fund one of the following projects, chosen by the leadership of the Barts and The London Students’ Association:

Hockey

The School has three hockey clubs – Mixed, Men’s and Women’s. The clubs attract students from a variety of skill levels and provide the opportunity for Barts and The London students to compete at a high level, whilst ensuring that those who are new to the game progress from complete beginners to proficient 1st team goal scorers.

We would like to purchase two Hockey Goal Keeper kits, to benefit all three teams.

Target: £2,000

Boat Club

Barts and The London Boat Club continues to go from strength to strength, becoming one of the largest clubs in the University of London, but it is in financial difficulty. Equipment is limited or ageing and in need of repair to continue the Club’s successful performance:

Refurbishing the 1st VIII

Target: £2,250

A new set of blades

Target: £2,480

A Second Safety/ Coaching Launch to enable the Club to deploy more boats in each outing.

Target: £3,100

Water Polo

Our Water Polo Club demonstrates a high standard of sporting ability, competing in international tournaments while aiming to create a friendly and fun atmosphere in and out of the pool.

The Club needs a new pair of Water Polo Goals to replace the current equipment which is more than 10 years old and will soon be unfit for use.

Target: £1,695

Double the Impact of Your Donation

We are delighted that the leadership of BATLAA has provided a generous match fund of up to £6,000 for donations received in support of these projects, which means that your gift will be worth double what you donate. We have provided the option to add a £20 donation onto the price of the ticket, which will be worth £40 to the Clubs who will benefit from your support. If you would like to make a donation of any other amount please contact us.
