Queen Mary Former Staff Association

Group shot of members of the Former Staff Association

We promote social and recreational activities for former staff and their guests. This could include you - and it should!

The formula has been successful for an incredible 29 years and still counting.

The Former Staff Association of Queen Mary (QMFSA) is a congenial social group of staff who previously worked at Queen Mary University of London or one of our constituent colleges: Queen Mary College, Westfield College, St. Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College and The London Hospital Medical and Dental Colleges. All are eligible for membership.*

The Association is complementary to the Alumni Engagement team who support us in our activities. There is a nominal membership fee which will allow you to join our visits to museums, musicals, plays and concerts, palaces and gardens and trips to the coast and along the river. Our social secretary organises these cultural, social and entertainment events on our behalf, some of which are available at group rates but often ticket prices are favourable through membership (members may also bring a guest).

A committee of former Queen Mary staff members choose where to go and members are encouraged to provide ideas of places/events they would enjoy at our AGM. One of the most popular occasions is the Christmas Lunch, held at a classy London venue with superb cuisine. Perhaps this is our alternative AGM – of the gastronomic kind! There is also a benevolent function, in which we acknowledge significant events in the personal lives of members.

How can you join us?

Download the Membership Joining Form [DOC 60KB], email us at former-staff@qmul.ac.uk or write to:

Miss Sheila Fenn, Hon. Secretary, Queen Mary Former Staff Association, 36 Forest Road, Loughton, Essex, IG10 1DX

*It is open to those who have taken early retirement, have moved on to other employment or whose contracts have expired.

The cultural visits and entertainment organised by the Association have taken us where we might never have imagined going, or would not have gone to on our own. The excellent company of the group always makes visits so enjoyable.
